Mike joined the staff in 1996 as Pastor for Young and Median Adults and then in 2004 moved into the administration role.   In addition, Mike gives leadership to the use of technology in the church, overseeing the website, all print publications, and e-mail publicity. 
 
Prior to joining the staff in 1996, Mike served in Baptist student ministries at San Jacinto College, Texas Wesleyan College, and Baylor University. A native of Snyder, Mike is a graduate of both Texas Tech University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Patti, are the parents of three children, Katie and her husband Luke Palmer, Blake, and Brett.

The newest member to the staff, John came to First Baptist at the beginning of 2008 to begin his work as pastor for missions. 
 
John was raised in the Houston area before attending  Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He served as a youth pastor in Lorena, Texas and then for the past 13 years at Williams Trace Baptist Church in Sugar Land, Texas.
 
John and his wife, Beverly, have three children Marshall, Collin, and Nathan.

Todd is a native Texan and the son of a Baptist pastor.  He graduated from Alamogordo (NM) High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 1982.  He completed a Master of Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985.

Todd met his wife, Michele, while a student at William Jewell.  She was also a music education major.  She completed her degree at the University of Texas at Tyler in 1988 and has been employed as an elementary school music teacher.  Todd and Michele have two children:  daughter, Mackenzie, and son, Landon.  Todd was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1985.  He lists his interests as being coaching, golf, and computers.

Before coming to Abilene, Todd served at First Baptist Church, Henderson, Texas, for over six years and has served full-time as minister of music in the following churches:  First Baptist Church, White Settlement; First Baptist Church, Grapevine; First Baptist Church, San Marcos.  He also served as music assistant at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.  Todd is a member of the Centurymen and the Singing Men of Texas.

Scott has served as Pastor for Recreation since July 2001 where he leads all aspects of the recreation ministry and oversees the operation of the Family Life Center.

Scott a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Tennessee in 1992.  His major was recreation management, and his minor was business administration.  An ordained minister, Scott has served as a youth minister in Lovelady, Texas, and as minister of recreation at First Baptist Church of Houston.  In 1994, he became the associate director there, and, after one year, became the minister of recreation.  In 1999, he became the program director for the California Baptist Convention’s state camp in Sonora.

Scott and his wife, Gayla, have five children Shayne, Levi, Kenley, Amara, and Maryn.

Palmer started serving as Pastor for Senior Adults in February 2006.  Palmer has spent most of his ministry working with college students.  He was the Baptist Student Union director at Sul Ross University, South Plains College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and, from 1979-2001, here at Hardin-Simmons University.  He also served as minister of youth and adult education at Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, Virginia.  Since his retirement in 2001, he has been involved with two local congregations as interim music minister.  Palmer has degrees from both HSU and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Palmer and his wife, Patsy, have two children, Stephanie Markgraf and her husband Jim live in Midland with the two grandchildren, Jon Michael and Christopher, and Michael and his wife Barb, who currently live in Frankfurt, Germany where he sings opera.

C.V. came to Abilene as Pastor for Youth in 1999 where he served in that position before he moved into the Young and Median Adult position in 2004.  He gives leadership to all adults between the ages of 20-60 both married and single.  He also works with the Men's Ministry and coordinates the small group Bible studies for men. 
 
Before coming to Abilene in 1999, C.V. served in similar ministry positions in Bryan, Lubbock, Shallowater, Slaton, and O'Donnell, C.V. is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Shelly, have two children , Bryan who lives and works in the Dallas area, and Lauren who is preparing to attend nursing school.

After serving in a variety of positions in the church, Cody was serving as Pastor for University Ministries for two years.  Then in May of 2008 the youth and university positions were combined into the current pastor for students position.  He leads the ministry to students from 6th grade to university.
 
He is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education with a Minor in Psychology and a Master of Divinity from Logsdon School of Theology.  During his college days, he served as both youth intern and interim youth minister at First Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas.  Upon graduation from college he moved to Muleshoe where he served as youth minister for four years.
 
While working on his master’s degree, Cody served as interim youth minister here at First Baptist, and then moved into the university role.  He spent two years here as a part of a residency program through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship which concluded in the summer of 2007 when he continued on in his present position.

Cassie Irwin joined the staff in the spring of 2008 to take leadership of the children's ministries.  Cassie comes to First Baptist with a great deal of experience of working with children.  She previously served as the director of First Friends Preschool here at the church.
 
Cassie and her husband, Dave, a physical therapist, have five children, Hunter, Shelby, Sidney, Holly, and Caleb.

Rebecca Stegall took over leadership of the preschool area in March of 2009.  Having grown up in Cartersville, Georgia and attending Kennesaw State University, she has taught Spanish in several different states while moving around the country with her husband who is in the military.  Since moving back to Abilene, Rebecca has been involved in teaching Mission Friends, Sunday school, and most recently working with the Refugee Ministry.
 
Rebecca and her husband, Sid, a B-1 pilot in the USAF, have a son Sidney.
