Phil has been pastor of First Baptist since March, 1995. In addition to his many pastoral responsibilities, he also is actively involved in the civic life and leadership of Abilene. Phil has previously pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. While pastoring in Kentucky, he taught at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Phil holds a BA degree from Baylor University, a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Brite Divinity School of TCU. Phil and Mary, his wife, have two children, Jeremy and his wife Caroline and  Natalie who is married to Andrew Abrarmeit.
